ABOUT US
ColorChem International Corp. began its business over twenty years ago. ColorChem commenced its business by purchasing technology for the plastic (solvent) dyes business from American Color & Chemical ("AC&C"). AC&C was a highly successful dyestuff company with approximately $20 million sales per year. Since our acquisition of part of their business, we have successfully continued and grown the business by expanding the original dye offerings with many proprietary products.

The dyes we manufacture and sell are used to color the engineering plastics such as acrylic, polycarbonate, nylon and ABS. Our customer base consists primarily of plastic manufacturers such as GE, Bayer and BASF. In addition, we also supply our products to the major masterbatch companies such as Clariant, Americhem and PolyOne. We have developed our business through close technological relationships with our customers and the development of proprietary products. For example, when cadmium based pigments were removed from the color palette by government regulation, the nylon coloring industry was unable to match many yellow, orange and red shades. In response, ColorChem developed a proprietary line of yellow, orange and red dyes that work effectively in nylon alone or in combination with the Neolor pigments. Our dyes offer unique properties not found in other dyes or organic pigments, permitting our dyes to replace the cadmium based pigments with no loss of color or performance.

ColorChem manufactures our Amaplast® dyes in North America. We have one site in South Carolina and another in Mexico. The South Carolina site is in an excellent part of the U.S. for manufacturing. The plant is close to other chemical plants and automotive plants. We recently added a site in Mexico in order to diversify our product mix and add to our production capabilities and chemistries.

ColorChem is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as the exclusive distributor of the Neolor pigments for the U.S., Canada and Mexico. These pigments are the proprietary cerium sulfide pigments produced, under patent, by Rhodia in France. They have excellent durability and heat stability in all of the engineering polymers, and are especially suitable for nylon.
